What Do Kidneys Do?
Our kidneys are very important and are needed for our body to function properly. Our kidneys are bean shaped organs that filter harmful toxins out of approximately 120-150 quarts of blood which produces 1-2 quarts of urine. That is their job day in and day out. Without the ability to filter your blood, our body could not survive. Our kidneys work continuously to filter our blood, produce and regulate hormones, absorb minerals and neutralize acids.
Since they filter out what we put into our bodies, certain habits and things we put into our body can put a lot of strain on them which causes kidney damage that is irreversible and inevitably lead to end stage renal disease and kidney failure. You may find some of these habits quite shocking never knowing the damage they can inflict upon your kidneys, especially learning that some of these habits are ones you’ve had for some time.
Knowing what can harm your kidneys can help you make better choices in your life and in your diet. On the Next Page we will cover some of the things that are harmful to your kidneys.
