The studies included prove that drinking diet soda can actually trick us into consuming more calories by subconsciously excusing them. I have personally found this to be true. Back when I drank soda, I would sometimes allow myself a few extra chips if I was drinking a diet soda instead. Truth is, habits like these are the reason that there is a definite correlation between drinking diet soda and weight gain.
